Dolphin TREK®

MY LITTLE GIRL fantasy fulfilled.

I swam with dolphins 🐬🐬🐬

Okay, not really swim but an underwater experience with my favourite mammals! Diving is not a requirement in the Dolphin TREK encounter. It involves the Sea TREK® helmet which has a backpack of sorts supplying continuous air supply. Where at? The Dolphin Island at Resorts World Sentosa.

Don’t be deceived! The backpack and helmet weighs about 30kg! So I had the (actual) divers help me with the putting it on as I descend into the water on the ladder.

I had a momentary freaking-out moment while descending trying to neutralise the pressure and ‘popping’ my ears with a combination of blowing my nose and gulping.

The water was not that deep. But once on the seabed, I realised I was being watched… by passers-by behind the aquarium glass. My awkward moment of waving and getting waved back turned out to be pretty hilarious. Had to walk ever so slowly as I felt like I was about to be thrown backwards by the sheer weight of the backpack. The helmet glass also made everything appear further than they actually are.

Shakeela the teenage dolphin was adorable! Fascinated at being able to breathe underwater but I also had to pay attention to the hand signals our guide was giving. Through that, we got upclose to Shakeela – holding her dorsal fins, watching her swim and blow bubbles. Amazing, really.

Gave Shakeela a fishy kiss before we left. What can I say? I have always been in love with dolphins, was beaming the rest of the day at having had the chance to meet and greet one.

Now, can I keep one as my pet?

What's on your mind?
